a journey towards circular luxury.

The Road to sustainable Luxury

With an ever growing demand for authentic, transparent and sustainable practices in product creation, the Design team at Automobili Pininfarina has challenged themselves to give a second life to every piece of materials that might normally be discarded in car production.

As an example, Automobili Pininfarina has partnered with French specialists Authentic Materials to ensure that offcuts of leather and wood are combined to create a one of a kind, exquisite new material that may be applied to future products. This philosophy is creating a circular economy in vehicle creation.

The process sees Authentic Materials grind the excess leather and wood samples in three different stages and then combine them with a special biopolymer, generating the beautiful material you see on the right.

Next Generation Sensation

The interior of Battista is a sensory feast. The finest semi-aniline leather may be selected to adorn the sculpted seats and an array of cabin features, soft and natural to touch.

Not only is this material a joy to feel, it may also be appreciated for the way it is carefully treated as part of a commitment to ethical sourcing.

Twice every year the leaves of olive trees that have fallen as the seasons change are collected and used to treat this leather as part of a meticulous tanning process. The result ensures each Battista interior is unique, with every piece of leather traceable to its source.

A shared Commitment

When selecting our partners, we look for brands that share our vision, and companies that look at problems and see opportunities. Aquafil, is a company based in Italy that in 2013 founded Healthy Seas.

The purpose of Aquafil is to clean the oceans of marine litter such as derelict fishnets responsible for the needless death of marine animals. The discarded fishing nets they recover are regenerated into the high quality

Econyl® yarn, which is used for the production of all new in car textiles, such as the floor protection mats found inside the Battista hypercar.

We are proud to support such an initiative in our product creation process.

Many of the delightful design details of Battista are crafted from aluminium: often referred to as jewels by our team of Designers. Every piece is a precious representation of our commitment to exceptional quality and craftsmanship.

We also love to surprise our customers. So we ensure that even the tiniest production off-cut in shaping these aluminium jewels is given a second life.
